Some maps I made!

Hello everyone! Sorry for the apparent absence, but finally, I'm back! It's going to be hard being consistent with new content, since I'm on my last year of high school, but nonetheless I will try to come up with more articles and more world building.

As I stated in my first article, my objective for this blog is to give Attack on Titan the world building it deserves, and to do so, I have to give it a world first.

As we know, the only known official map is the one that showcases Marley and the island of Paradis.

From what we understood in the article "Where is the main story located?", we are able to tell that the world map of Attack on Titan is simply an oversimplified version of our world map, turned by 180°.

These are some of the continental maps I made!

This is a remake of the famous "manga map", it depicts the continent of Marley by its entirety, and part of two other continents (three, if you want to count "Europe" as another continent, which in this case could be called "Maro"): Telsis (on your left) and Kyasei (on your right).

How did I come up with the inspiration for these names?

Whilst Telsis is a direct reference to another anime, similar in technology to AoT, Violet Evergarden (in which, fun fact, the protagonist of the story shares voice actors with Mikasa Ackermann), the names Maro and Kyasei are instead made up.

Maro is the equivalent of Europe in our world, divided by Marley by the Reniati sea (anagram of the japanese pronunciation of "Tyrrhenian"), the name comes from the latin version of the city of Rome (Roma), but with the syllabes reversed (therefore, Maro)

Kyasei, the equivalent of Asia, is the Japanese translation of the word "Catai" (or "Cathay" in English), a term used by Marco Polo in his book "Il Milione" to refer to nothern China.

Hope you like them!
